Why This Series Is Being Written
These letters are being written because A Very British Cult did not end when the BBC’s five hours of programming ended. Its public claims, omissions and distortions remain in circulation, while the human consequences have affected reputations, identities, credibility, livelihoods, relationships, health and future possibility.
Paul writes as a Christian under the authority of Jesus Christ, who is the Truth. That requires Lighthouse Global to face truth, repent and make repair wherever we are wrong. It requires the same standard from the BBC, its journalists and every institution whose power impacts human lives.
The series also has a wider public purpose. It examines what Catrin Nye represents: the life-destructive, predatory citizen who is willing to sacrifice other human beings on the altar of woke ideology in pursuit of personal significance, institutional approval and career progression. It is here so that all of us can learn to recognise this pattern, how such bad actors select and dehumanise their targets, manufacture psuedo-moralistic permissibility for their destruction and use powerful institutions to protect themselves from accountability. Most importantly, it asks what citizens, communities and institutions must do to expose this conduct, resist it and prevent others from being subjected to the same Life Destruction.
